Central Coast Bears Limited is encouraged by the exciting news yesterday that an independent commission is imminent, along with impending expansion into the Central Coast and Brisbane.

Central Coast Bears CEO Greg Florimo said this is the news the communities of the Central Coast and Sydney’s North Shore have been patiently anticipating.

“It is also the most positive shot in the arm for the game since the mid 1990s,” said Mr Florimo.

“The Commission and expansion will also prove an excellent response to the national expansion plans of other sporting codes and has put the Central Coast Bears squarely on track for 2013.

“The Club is exactly positioned where we planned to be at this stage of our bid. We are just about to ramp up our marketing and community engagement program that will build our brand on the Central Coast and Sydney’s north.

“We are also confident that with a catchment of over 1 million people, the third largest junior league in NSW, plus a purpose-built playing arena in Gosford – the magnificent Bluetongue Stadium that this announcement will help build us on our excellent stable of corporate supporters Mortgage House, Fortunity, Sinali and OOH.

“We are also excited by the prospect of the game being handed back to the clubs and are looking forward to presenting our business case to the NRL and/or the Independent Commission in the New Year,” said Mr Florimo.
