The Central Coast Bears have utilised their sizable following on FaceBook to allow the local community to meet with Bid officials at picturesque Terrigal on the Central Coast.

Alan McLoughlin, administrator of the Central Coast Bears FaceBook page, which held a competition for a chance to have lunch with Bears CEO Greg Florimo and prospective Central Coast Bears Coach David Fairleigh, was very pleased with the turnout.

“It was great that Greg and David gave their time and made themselves available”, said Alan.

“We need to connect with the Central Coast community not just rely completely on the press and face to face events like this attended by our FaceBook supporters will help disseminate information to the local public”.

At the gathering Greg Florimo acknowledged the great work that had been done by the team to date and talked about his recent meeting with David Gallop.

“We expect the question of expansion will be revisited in mid 2011. At this stage the League will have a better idea of the worth of the new media rights. The results of the Rugby Union media deal will also be know at that stage” Greg said.

But his most important message for the people of the Central Coast was that membership will be the driving force in the New Year to come.

“We will be stepping up our membership drive in 2010. Our aim will be 5000 members,” Greg claimed.
