Central Coast Bears Head of Football Operations David Fairleigh will continue his coaching career in the NRL after accepting a role as a technical assistant with the New Zealand Warriors.
Mr Fairleigh, who will be the Central Coast Bears inaugural head coach, says that it is critical for the club that he maintains a presence at rugby league’s elite level.
The former Australian second rower is also pleased to be working with his former Bear’s team mate and New Zealand Warrior’s coach Ivan Cleary.
“It’s critical I keep my hand in at the top level and I’m pleased to be working with Ivan and the New Zealand Warriors until the Central Coast Bears get the green light from the NRL,” said Mr Fairleigh.
“We’ve been in discussions since midway through 2009 and I’ll be assisting with coaching and team strategy and analysis.”
Mr Fairleigh will combine his services with the New Zealand Warriors with his role as Head of Football Operations for the Central Coast Bears.
“I will continue to combine my work developing young football talent on the Central Coast and the North Shore with my community work on behalf of the Central Coast Bears.”
Central Coast Bear’s CEO, Greg Florimo said, “I’d like to thank Ivan Cleary and the New Zealand Warriors for giving David Fairleigh the opportunity to work in the NRL.”
“The move by the Warriors will mean David and the Central Coast Bears will continue to attract attention in Australia and New Zealand as our bid for an NRL licence builds momentum towards 2013.”
