The Hills Hawks Foster Love of League

It is never too early to foster a love of rugby league, according to the Hawks.

The Hills Hawks Junior Rugby League Club offers age-modified game formats for ages four to 14 with Mini Footy for ages four to eight, Modified League for ages nine to 12, and Junior Rugby League for ages 13 and over.

Club secretary Mandy Brisot said the modified games focused on “increasing kids’ confidence and resilience from a young age”.

“The Kindy and Year 1 kids have an on-field coach and a qualified referee, which ensures every child is given a true opportunity and is actively encouraged to participate in the game — not just stand on the field watching the others,” she said.

The club plays in the North Sydney Bears competition, with games held at Dural Park on Quarry Rd.

Eliana Babington, of Glenorie, started when she was five and her mum Melissa said it had helped her become “extremely resilient”.

“It is a great sport for all kids and certainly not what many expect,” she said.
