The North Sydney Bears have claimed their first win of the season with a 32-12 win over the Blacktown Workers Sea Eagles at Lottoland on Saturday evening.

As the pitch black clouds began circulating Lottoland, players couldn’t help but see flashback of their wet weather outing at Redfern in Round 1.

The rain held off though (for the first half anyway) and the North Sydney Bears were set for a solid contest ahead.

They opened the scoring just three minutes into the match through Asu Kepaoa, finding some space on the right edge and bringing it back to the posts for the conversion.

The Sea Eagles hit back and hit back hard, with back-to-back tried to winger Leva Li to take the lead halfway through the opening stanza.

It wasn’t time for the Bears to lay down though and a sensational Kieran Moss did his part for his team to ensure they went back in front before the end of the half.

His first try was on the right edge was on the back of a solid play from the scrum 10 metres out from the line, while the second was a Bears special.

Josh Curran offloaded to Brock Lamb, Lamb got an inside ball to Moss and the Bears found themselves with a 16-12 lead heading into the sheds at the break.

They started the second half the way they finished the first, and it was Brock Lamb who capitalised on a dummy-and-run from 15 metres out for his first points in what was an outstanding game for the halfback.

Nat Butcher did well in the back end of the match to pop an offload to hooker Bradley Deitz to send him over just wide of the uprights.

Lamb topped off his sensational performance by sending prop Tom Freebairn over in the dying minutes.

The Bears take on the Magpies at 3pm this Sunday afternoon at Ringrose Park.
