After five years as a Board Director of the North Sydney Bears, Billy Moore has made the difficult decision to take a step down from the club board to focus on his own business and media career. Billy Moore, ex-player #874, joined the board in May 2020 with the aim to strengthen the club and push for readmission back into the National Rugby League. Now that this has been achieved, with the Bears due to return to the NRL in 2027, he feels the time is right to make his next move. “It is with great sadness, but also excitement, that I’ve stood down off the Board” stated Billy. “I am humbled to have been part of this journey, and excited for what lays ahead, the future of the Perth Bears feeding directly from North Sydney District Rugby League Football Club”.

“Billy, not only a legend of the club, has been an invaluable member of the North Sydney Bears board, bringing passion, insight, and commitment to the club’s success coupled with his unwavering dedication to getting the Bears back into the NRL.” commented North Sydney Bears CEO Gareth Holmes. Continuing, “This passion and dedication have been instrumental in shaping a very exciting future and we are incredibly grateful for his tireless efforts. On behalf of the entire football club, district and personally to me in my role, I thank Billy for the lasting impact he has made on and off the field and look forward to him being a part of the Perth Bears as we prepare for 2027.”.

North Sydney Bears Chairman, Daniel Dickson reflected “It’s been an absolute pleasure to serve on the bears board with Billy. I’ve had the privilege of knowing Billy from a player through his media career and now as a board member. His passion and dedication to the bears return to the NRL has been exemplary and I appreciate his tenacity and drive to help achieve the bears return to the NRL in 2027”.

Although Billy will no longer hold a position as a Director on the Board, he will continue to support his beloved mighty Bears and be an integral part of the club’s past, present and future. “What has happened is unique.
