• NEW HEAD COACH ANNOUNCED

    Knock-On Effect NSW Cup

As we prepare to launch into the 2025 season, we are excited to announce our new Knock-On Effect NSW Cup Head Coach as Tony Barnes. Barnes comes to the club with 31 seasons of coaching under his belt having worked with the Sydney Roosters from 2010 – 2023 including holding roles as Head Coach of their NSW Cup team and many successful years as Head Coach of Jersey Flegg. More recently, Barnes was Assistant Coach of the 2024 premiership winning Newtown Jets team and comes highly recommended.

Although our players are currently enjoying the “off season”, Barnes has hit the ground running working alongside our Football Operations Manager, Daniel Hutton, CEO Gareth Holmes and Assistant Coach and Analyst Joel Scrivener to ensure our NSW Cup program for 2025 is strong. With the club now having been named Minor Premiers two years in a row and making consecutive Grand Final appearances, Barnes has big goals to achieve with the aim to go one further in 2025.

Barnes is looking forward to getting stuck in on field when pre-season training gets underway in mid-November. Off-field he prides himself on setting high player benchmarks, strong group connections and supporting the playing group on and off the field, within rugby league and beyond.  “Ensuring that I promote an atmosphere of loyalty, respect and harmony in line with current and future policies within the Club is important to me as a coach” stated Barnes. Welcome to the Bears Tony!
