Match Report – Dominant Knights End Bears 2017 Season

The North Sydney Bears ended their 2017 ISP NSW season with a 40-18 loss to Newcastle Knights on Sunday afternoon.

The Knights dominated in performance, racing out to a 20-0 lead before a young but valiant Bears side fought back to stay in the game.

Shaking off some early unforced errors and missed opportunities, North Sydney came back strongly with a try by Abbas Miski in the right corner before a brilliant play by the Bears saw Sitiveni Moceidreke kick a cross-field bomb with precision to Tautalatasi Tasi, who skillfully plucked the ball from the air and put it down over their line.

Newcastle lifted their game in the second half to widen the gap further. A last-minute great try by Eli Levido wasn’t enough to close the margin, ending the Bears finals race for 2017.
