Welcome to 2020!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Year with family and friends. We are very refreshed and excited here at the Bears for 2020 and we’ve hit the ground running with the start of the footy season just around the corner. Our Junior representative teams kick off the season February 8.

I’d like to start with a special mention to all people affected by the bush fires; our thoughts are with you. Also, a huge thank you to our firefighters – you are the true heroes! The Bears, along with Norths Collective are planning a series of events to help support the bush fire victims over the coming months.

With five teams representing the Red and Black, we’ve had a busy preseason. Our three leaders; Tom, Max and Brad are back from their preseason training at the Roosters. Other good news here, Paul Stringer has been appointed as coach of the Bears Jersey Flegg team and the quality sporting facilities at Macquarie University have been enjoyed by all coaches and players.

Many themed events will be associated on game day throughout the season with the draw out for the Canterbury Cup. Our first game v Penrith is March 14. At this stage our first home game at North Sydney Oval is May 10 against the Rabbitohs. This will be Old Bears Day so please keep that day free and come along.

Most importantly, we need you on board as a 2020 Member! If you haven’t renewed please go on line or give us a call on 02 9245 3060. You can become a member for as little as $40.

Our 112th birthday is coming up on February 7  (well 224 in Bear years!) – so please give Barney a great birthday present by renewing your membership or purchasing a new one.

Thanks again – come up and say hi on game day.

Go the Bears!
Jason Taylor – Head Coach
