As we prepare for Round 1 of the 2025 season, our NSW Cup medical partner, Axis Athletic, provides our members with a player injury update. We will keep this page updated on player injuries throughout the season.

Injury Update: 28th August 2025

Coby Thomas – suffered a concussion during our Round 25 match against the Sea Eagles. This will see him sidelined under concussion protocols for our final game of the season.

Jayden Yates unfortunately suffered a pec strain during our last Round 24 match up against the Roosters. This will mean an early finish to Yatesy season, fortunately he won’t require surgery and will make a full recovery through physiotherapy.

Tui Katoa suffered 3 rib fractures after our Round 23 game against the Parramatta Eels. Unfortunately, he will not return to play this season.

Injury Update: 21st August 2025

Jayden Yates unfortunately suffered a pec strain during our last round match up against the Roosters. This will mean an early finish to Yatesy season, fortunately he won’t require surgery and will make a full recovery through physiotherapy.

Regan Hughes has been training well and is pushing for selection this week on return from a wrist fracture.

Jake Toby and Chase Chapman both made a success returns from there respective injuries last round. They’ll be looking to have strong contribution to the squad as we close out the season.

Injury Update: 7th August 2025

Regan Hughes unfortunately suffered a wrist fracture in last week’s clash against the Knights. This will likely keep Regan out for the next 3-4 weeks. Depending on how well the fracture heals, we’re hoping to have Regan back on field for the last round or two.
Luke Hodge is continuing to work on his return to play from a significant adductor injury. He’s back in full training but isn’t quite ready to return to play. We are looking to have Hodgy back and available for the last few rounds of the season.
Che Te Rangi and Lance Fualema are both back to full training this week from their separate ankle and knee injuries and are looking to return to play this round.
Villiami Pupu unfortunately suffered a high grade AC injury last round and this will likely mean an early end to his season. He’ll continue to rehab his shoulder, working with the rehab team.

Injury Update: 11th July 2025

Tyrell Neuifi and Zac Makelim will be returning this week after the Ron Massey bye period from their respective injuries.

Nathaniel Roache has been progressing with his rehab and will be aiming for a return to play in either Round 21 or 22.

Luke Hodge has been back training with the full squad and is moving well, he’ll be looking to return to the field next round.

Injury Update: 19th June 2025

Zac Makelim – Zac continues to progress through his reexposure to running and skills work. Recovering from a back injury, it is about striking a balance of dosing enough running and skills work without exacerbating his symptoms. He’s been part-taking in team drills and we’ll be looking to have him back on the park in the upcoming weeks following the bye.
Luke Hodge – Hodgy has been progressing well through his rehab running. He’ll begin integrating into team drills and we’ll be looking to have him back after the bye.
Nathaniel Roache – Similar to Hodgy, he’s progressing through his rehab running, as he looks to return from a high-grade hamstring injury. Again, Nate will also be eying off a return after the bye.
Tyrell Neiufi – Rehabbing from a quad tear, Tyrell is doing all the right things to try and be available for this week’s game. He has a few more criteria to tick off before then. But if not this week, he’ll be available the following round.
Riley Meyn – Riley unfortunately suffered a concussion in round 15 and will be unavailable this week.

Injury Update: 5th June 2025

Jake Toby – Jake suffered a severe nasal laceration and damage to his septum in last week’s clash against the Sea Eagles. He fortunately avoided any nasal fractures and had surgery to clean out as well as repair the damage earlier this week. We’ll be looking to have Jake return in the next month.

Nathanial Roache – Nate continues his rehab from his high-grade hamstring tear and is progressing his way through his rehab running. We are looking to have Nate back on deck in the few weeks after the bye.

Luke Hodge – Hodgy has been making steady progress with his rehab and has returned to running this week. He’ll also be looking for a return around Round 17-19

Zac Makelim – scans revealed that Zac suffered a back injury that had led to referring symptoms down his leg. He is progressing through his rehab, but a more patient approach will be used to get Zac back onto the field.

Tyrell Neuifi – suffered a minor quadriceps strain in last weeks game that could see him miss the 2-3 weeks.

Injury Update: 22nd May 2025

Jake Toby unfortunately suffered a calf strain in the warm-up before kickoff last weekend, Round 11. He’ll be out for the short-term and looking at a return to play in Round 13 or 14.
Zac Makelim suffered a suspected hamstring injury against the Dragons and has been sent for scans for further assessment.
Luke Hodge is in the early stages of rehab for an adductor injury, this will keep him out for the next month or so. The aim will be for a return in Round 17-19.
Nathaniel Roache continues his rehab from a hamstring injury and has begun his return to running rehab.
Jesse Marschke is working towards a return to play in the next 1 to 2 rounds.

Injury Update: 8th May 2025

Nathaniel Roache – unfortunately Nate has suffered a high-grade hamstring tear which will keep him out for at least 8-10 weeks.

Tui Katoa – continues to build his running capacity and is beginning his return to skills this week as he pushes for his return from a broken thumb. He’ll be firming for a return in the next week or two.

Luke Hodge – unfortunately suffered a pelvic contusion and will be unavailable this round. He’ll be out for the short-term, likely a one to two week stint on the sidelines.

Injury Update: 2nd May 2025

Regan Hughes – Regan has been monitored closely under concussion protocols including our neuro specialist. He is progressing well and working towards a return to play within 1-2 rounds.
Riley Meyn – Is continuing to respond well to full-training, and is looking to be available in the coming weeks for his return from ACL reconstruction
Nathaniel Roache – Made a successful return to play in Round 8 against the Raiders. He is feeling strong and ready to push forward with his season.
Phil Makatoa – Phil made a triumphant return to play in Round 8 against the Raiders, playing minimal minutes as he eases back into game play after his facial fracture early in the season.
Tui Katoa – Tui has begun rehab running after being cleared to return to training four weeks post thumb surgery. He’ll spend the next 2-3 weeks regaining his fitness while the final stages of healing take place. Looking for a return to play around Rounds 11-12.
Havi Tupouniua – Havi is booked in for his ACL reconstruction next week as he begins his rehab process after suffering the injury early in the pre-season.

Injury Update: 16th April 2025

Regan Hughes – Suffered a Category 1 Concussion in round 6 against the Rabbitohs, he’ll need to go through the necessary concussion protocols.
Riley Meyn – Is responding well to full-training, and is looking to be available in the coming weeks for his return from ACL reconstruction
Nathaniel Roache – Is making good progress in his rehab from his biceps injury and will be looking to return after the bye either Round 8 or 9
Phil Makatoa – Has returned to contact training following an orbital fracture in the final pre-season trial game. Like Nate is looking to return after the bye around Round 8-9
Tui Katoa – Is coming up to 4 weeks post-op from his thumb fracture. He’ll still have another two weeks before he can return to full training and is looking to be available around Round 10-12.

Injury Update: 3rd April 2025

Nathaniel Roache – Nate unfortunately suffered a biceps injury in the first half of Round 4. He’s been sent for scans to assess the extent of the injury, and we’ll continue to keep fans posted.
Abiarthur Tuilaepa – Suffered a High Ankle sprain in Round 4, he was able to continue playing. Initial tests have reduced the fears of a long-term injury, and we are expecting Abi to return to play in the next 1-3 weeks.
Regan Hughes and Matt Stimson both received knocks in Round 4. Fortunately, the boys have been training well and are expected to be available this weekend.
Jonah Pezet having returned to play his first game in nearly 12 months after suffering an ACL injury in April 2024, the young Five-Eighth unfortunately sustained a knee injury in Round 4. Melbourne Storm have confirmed Pezet will have minor surgery this week and is likely to miss 8-12 weeks.
Tui Katoa – in other news Tui Katoa recently underwent successful surgery on his thumb after suffering an unstable Bennett’s Head Fracture. Aiming for a Round 10 return to play.
In other news Jesse Marschke and Jake Toby are progressing well with their individual rehabs and are looking to be available in the next week or two.

Injury Update: 28th March 2025

Jake Toby – Jake experienced hamstring tightness during the Round 3 game and played only 41 minutes. He is being monitored by the Axis medical team

Luke Hodge – Luke suffered a sternocostial joint injury. X-ray this week has ruled out a fracture and is now being remediated with further testing to come.

Joe Chan (Storm contracted player) – endured a facial laceration. He will be monitored under the Melbourne Storm medical team.

Jesse Marschke – Aggravated shoulder injury sustained in Round 2 game against the Bulldogs. Jesse is progressing well and is almost at full strength while having regained full movement.

Tui Katoa – Suffered a thumb fracture against the Bulldogs in Round 2 that will require surgery. Tui had successful surgery on his thumb this week. Return to Play in 4-6 weeks.

Harry Wilson – Has passed his concussion protocols and will return to play this week.

Riley Meyn and Phillip Makatoa are continuing well in their rehab and are looking forward to returning to play this season.

Injury Update: 22nd March 2025

Jesse Marschke – Aggravated shoulder injury sustained in Round 2 game against the Bulldogs. The injury saw him sidelined at the 14th minute and did not return to play. No structural damage caused and will return to play after a short period of rehabilitation to gain strength and function.

Tui Katoa – Suffered a thumb fracture against the Bulldogs in Round 2 that will require surgery. Return to Play in 4-6 weeks.

Harry Wilson – Has passed his concussion protocols and will return to play this week.

Riley Meyn and Phillip Makatoa are continuing well in their rehab and are looking forward to returning to play this season.

Injury Update: 11th March 2025

Harradyn Wilson – Suffered a cat 1 concussion in Round 1. Will now observe an 11 day protocol. Looking for a return to play in round 3.
Tui Katoa – Hamstring tightness. Looking for a round 2-3 return to play.
Regan Hughes – Groin Strain suffered during Round 1 game, should be available for this weekend.
Compton Fuatimau – Suffered a left knee injury from a hip drop tackle during Round 1. No major structural issues and is aiming to be available this weekend.
Riley Meyn – Is coming up to 9 months post ACL reconstruction and has begun his final phase of rehabilitation. He’s integrating back into full team training and is looking at a return to play date in May.
Phil Makatoa – Has had a successful surgery on his left orbital fracture and will now begin his rehabilitation process.

Injury Update: 28th February 2025

Phil Makatoa – Left Orbital Fracture + Concussion awaiting further medical advice – Return to Play (RTP) is TBC
Riley Meyn – Left ACL Reconstruction – making really good progress with his rehab running, change of direction work. Has begun integrating back into light skills and contact with the main group, looking for a RTP in May this season
Tyrell Neiufi – Right Knee – suffered a hyper-extension injury during early February at training, progressing well with rehab and looking for a RTP in Rounds 1-3
Lance Fualema – Left Knee – another hyperextension injury in mid-January, has returned to training with the main group with a RTP date Rounds 1-2
Havi Tupouniua – Havi unfortunately suffered an ACL rupture of his right knee in mid-January and is awaiting surgery, this will mean Havi will not return to play this season.
