Bears Banter: Pat Jarvis, Tony Rea & Greg Florimo
What a pleasure it was to sit down and catch up over Zoom with three more Bears Legends, Tony Rea, Pat Jarvis and Greg Florimo. Our latest edition of Bears Banter was hosted by our 1991 Captain Tony "Sniffer" Rea, who now lives in London, and had the pleasure to lead both Flo and PJ during his captaincy. The boys chat about where they are now, what it was like to be a Bear in the early 90's and what the club meant to them. As Tony reminds us, we need to "keep our eyes up" and look to the future. -

Bears Banter: Tom Carr, Jacob Preston & Penioni Tagituimua
In our latest episode of Bears Banter we explore the pathway of the Bears and how our partnerships enrich our on-field game. Join host Jason Taylor as we get to know Tom Carr, Penioni Tagituimua, and Jacob Preston!
Young gun Jacob Preston started his journey with the Bears in 2016 when he joined our U15s Development squad. Since then he has made his way through our pathway program having played for the Bears in Harold Matthews Cup, SG Ball Cup, Jersey Flegg, and joined our Presidents Cup side in 2020. This year he has been impressing on the field in a strong Sydney Roosters Jersey Flegg side with his sights set on a return to the Bears to play NSW Cup.
Fijian International and Kaiviti Silktails Captain, Penioni Tagituimua played his first game for the Bears in round 11 against Mounties and has now played 4 games in our NSW Cup team. His opportunity to play in the Red & Black brought such joy to Bear Park that day and the smile on his face when he recounts the moment says it all. A moment that touched all Bears players, staff, and fans that were present that day.
And finally, Tom Carr completes our three-pillar pathway conversation, having joined the Bears this year after a 2 year suspension from the NRL he really has brought some star power to our NSW Cup side. Tom is credited with 10 tries in 8 games for the Bears in the 2021 season showing his flair as a nimble and fast thinking winger. His humility shows when talking about his on-field success as he states it's all part of "dancing together" as a Bears team to create the magic moments. This is a dance that us Bears fans are desperately missing at the moment!

Bears Banter: Ben Thomas & Ben Marschke
While much of NSW, VIC and SA are in lockdown our neighbours up north are business as usual and footy is still on. We caught up with two Bears, Ben Thomas & Ben Marschke,ย who are currently in the NRL bubble on the Sunshine Coast to find out what it's like and their journey to playing with the Sydney Roosters. They are still a few days away from completing their quarantine period and yet we had bursts of jealousy seeing the beautiful and warm resort they are currently calling home.
BT and Benny have been mates for a while now and have been lucky enough to play together not only at the Bears but also in the Sydney Roosters Jersey Flegg squad. While they still can't believe they are now playing together in the big league, they are both humbled by their journey and grateful for the pathway that has got them there. Dedication, hard work, and consistently good play on the field paid off for these two bantering Bears. -
