The North Sydney Bears Women’s team fought out a tough 24 – 24 draw in their first ever game at North Sydney oval.

The Bears dominated the first period and jumped out to 14-0 lead, with two tries to fullback Shenai Lendill and a try to hard running centre Josephine Maejiirs.

However, two converted tries within five minutes to the Brothers kept a slim 14-12 lead for the Bears at halftime.

In the second half, the match became a battle of wills as both sides faced multiple attacks with both scoring two converted tries.

Again the Bears scored their points early in the half, with tries to winger Shanice Parker and a memorable try to Issy Parkman, scoring in the extreme left corner as she was pushed back by the Brothers’ defence.

Again the Brothers’ tries came within 5 minutes of each taking it to 24 all. A tense and hard-fought final twelve minutes saw a highly entertaining match of football come to a conclusion remaining 24 all.

NORTH SYDNEY BEARS 24 (tries: Shenai Lendill 2, Josephine Maejiirs, Shanice Parker, Isabella Parkman, conversions: Isabella Parkman 2),
drew with BROTHERS PENRITH 24 (tries: Elise Short 2, Sarah Togatuki, Malia Tuifua, conversions: Ashlee Harrison 4).
