2022 CLUB AWARDS

As we finished up the regular season of the Knock On Effect NSW Cup last Sunday, we took the opportunity this week to come together as a club and acknowledge the players and club persons who made the difference this year to the Red & Black both on and off the field. Held at The Glasshouse in Artarmon, the newest addition to the Norths Collective venue portfolio, and blessed with a warm clear winter’s night the guests enjoyed delicious canapes and of course Bear Park Brew beers. Neat, club sponsor, provided two digital Neat Boards to present the event and showcase the efforts of our award winners.

CEO Gareth Holmes welcomed players, sponsors & corporate partners, 1908, Diamond & Life Members and Bears staff to the event and outlined the many successes the club has experienced this year including a 130% increase in our membership, continued substantial growth in merchandise sales, attendance of over 15,000 people at our home games this season, our Harvey Norman Women’s Premiership team finishing as Minor Premiers and our Knock On Effect NSW Cup team in 3rd place, now heading into finals.

Rob Capizzi, Head Coach HNWP, and Jason Taylor, Head Coach NSW Cup, each presented their team awards for Player’s Player and Coach’s Award – please see below for our 2022 winners. Taylor also acknowledged three players with Coaches Commitment Awards, Dion Narayan, Denzil Manu and Victor Tereszko, who turned up to every training session with the knowledge that they may never pull on a Red & Black jersey during the current season.

James Bracey was on hand to award the highly coveted member & fan voted Player of the Year awards that went to Kieran Hayman in the men’s and Kirra Dibb from our women’s team. Both recipients were humbled and excited by the award.

Wellbeing, Education & Community Manager, Greg Florimo, gave a speech from the heart that spoke of the current strength of the club and the Bears brand and his admiration of the future trajectory of the mighty Bears. He then presented to the senior men’s and women’s Community Awards that goes to those players who put their hand up throughout the year to be involved in our Bears in the Community events that include participating in junior league club activities and helping with our ClubGrants recipients.

Our final award of the night was the Club Person of the Year that is awarded to a person who has contributed so much to the club over a number of years. This year the award went to Jason Webster who has worked with all of our teams at various points across many years and applies such dedication and thoughtfulness to ensuring the experience of our players & staff is exemplary.

Congratulations to all of our HNWP and KOE NSW Cup players and staff on a successful year so far and good luck to our NSW Cup team who go into their first qualification final this Saturday.
