The North Sydney Bears are proud to announce their Junior Representative Head Coaches for the 2024 season. Our junior representative program has been growing in strength and is a focal point of the club as we strive to build a true player pathway from grassroots all the way up to the NRL. From 2024, our new pathway partner to the NRL is the Melbourne Storm and we look forward to working together to develop strong opportunities for all Bears players.
For the 2024 season, Paul Mamo returns to the club moving into the SG Ball Cup Head Coach position. Paul has been a strong leader of our Harold Matthews program for a number of years and is now keen to work with the older age group. Paul’s philosphy is to ensure the young men leave the club not only better players but also better people. Rob McArdle is stepping into the Head Coach position with our Harold Matthews team. Rob was Assistant Coach with our SG Ball team this year and has been working with our Development Squads. He also has extensive experience coaching Sydney Shield and A-Grade. Dave Carragher is also returning to the club for the 2024 season and taking over as Head Coach of our U16s Development Academy. Introducing the academy this season has been a great initiative by the Bears and has given many of our local talented players an opportunity to play and train at a higher level with the aim to move into the Junior Reps program.
Finally, we welcome to the Bears Luke Phillips for the 2024 season who will be Head Coach of our Tarsha Gale Cup program. Luke was a former player from 1996 – 2002 representing Raiders, Cowboys, Sea Eagles and winning an NRL premiership with the Sydney Roosters in 2002. He is also a qualified senior level referee and proven coaching credentials. The Bears Tarsha Gale program is going into its third year in 2024 and has seen immense growth and depth of talent over this period. Welcome to the Bears Luke!
Expressions of Interest to trial for the Bears Junior Representative squads are now available. EOI’s close on Friday 8th September with invited trials to be held on Sunday 17th September 2023.
