On Sunday 30th July 2023, we held our inaugural U10 and U11 Gala Day where junior league players from North Sydney, Manly and Parramatta Districts contested for the Don McKinnon Shield in each age group. It was a great day and awesome to see such talent from the young players. The games were played on mini fields under modified rules, with historic North Sydney Oval as the backdrop. The grand final games were played as a curtain raiser to the main game, Bears v Parramatta Eels. The legend himself, Don McKinnon, was on hand to cheer on the teams and present both the shields and medals to the players.
Congratulations to the Windsor Wolves on winning the U10s and Belrose Eagles on winning the U11s Don McKinnon Shields!
After the gala day, the junior players were invited to run out of the players tunnel ahead of the NSW Cup Bears v Eels teams on to the field.
Well done to all teams that participated and we hope to see you back at Bear Park again very soon.
