Historic moment for Bears Women’s Team
It was a defining moment in North Sydney Bears history when our inaugural women’s team took to the field on Sunday, drawing against Brothers Penrith in their first ever match at North Sydney Oval.
The 24-all draw made for a tense Round 3 clash in front of supporters and corporate partners of the Mighty Bears.
It was good to see approximately 50 of our key stakeholders, including sponsors and players from our ISP team cheer on the women’s side from the Mollie Dive stand. Representatives from the Norths Group Board attended, in addition to the Norths Group CEO Luke Simmons.
“It was a special moment witnessing the Bears women’s team step onto the field for the first time at North Sydney Oval,” said Simmons.
“There was a great show of support for the women on the day and we are so proud to be a part of this new chapter in the history of the North Sydney Bears”.
“Bears fans always show such passion and it’s heart-warming to see that same sense of community grow to encompass the new addition to the Bears family”.
The North Sydney Bears would like to thank all our major partners for their generous support of the Bears and the Women’s team in season 2018.
Special thanks goes to Mammoth Projects, JJ Lawson and Thousand hands who are also partners of our women’s team. We would also like to acknowledge our junior representative sponsors and volunteers in season 2018, in particular our major pathway partner, Asquith Magpies who were represented on the day.
Don’t forget our first ISP North Sydney Oval home game is this Saturday 14 April when the Bears play the Jason Taylor Cup against another foundation team in the Western Suburbs Magpies. This special event is in conjunction with Old Bears Day so please come and support the Mighty Bears and meet some of our past greats. Gates open at 11am.
