We wish to advise our members that Jason Taylor, Knock On Effect NSW Cup Head Coach, will be leaving the Bears to take on the assistant coaching role at the Canterbury Bulldogs in 2024. Taylor was appointed as our NSW Cup Head Coach in late 2018 and has now completed five successful seasons. Under his guidance the Bears football program has continued to raise the bar of professionalism and the 2023 season is tribute to the hard work and dedication he has maintained during his tenure with the Bears.

“It’s been an absolute pleasure to rejoin the mighty Bears as head coach for the last five seasons. Six years as a player and now five as a coach, 11 of the most enjoyable years of my life. Returning to an NRL assistant role has always been on my radar and this opportunity is simply too good to refuse” commented Taylor.

“The Bears have for many years been a platform for players to progress to the NRL and we celebrate this great coaching opportunity for JT to return to the NRL as an assistant coach. He is a Bears man through and through and his contribution over the past 5 seasons as our Club Coach has contributed to the success, we now see in our football program. I would like to thank him for his efforts and dedication and wish him well for the future. He will always be a Bear and I hope we can welcome him back one day in the future.” stated CEO Gareth Holmes.

Taylor has long been a staunch supporter of the Bears and will remain connected to club, as both an Old Bear and a loyal fan. “The Bears will remain close to my heart forever and a day. To all of you enormously passionate members and fans, thank you! Like you, I look forward to an NRL return for this great club.” said Taylor.

The North Sydney Bears thank Taylor for his contribution to the club over the last five years and wish him all the best in his next position as Assistant Coach at the Bulldogs. We are currently in discussions to appoint our 2024 NSW Cup Head Coach and will update our members when more information is available.
