It was a weekend of determination across our junior league sides, with all teams working hard in an attempt to secure a win. Wet weather forced the games to be moved to St Mary’s Leagues Club which meant each team missed the chance to play on home soil.

The Tarsha Gale girls were involved in a tense, low-scoring battle in a closely contested match. Vasaliva Feleti contributed valuable points with a conversion and a penalty goal, and the team’s composure under pressure ensured they matched the level of their opponents throughout the contest. The close match saw the teams share the points and the girls put up a strong fight right until the final whistle.

Despite trailing at halftime, the SG Ball team were able to step up when they returned to the field matching the Panthers point for point in the second half. Lachlan Hails was composed with the boot, converting both attempts to keep the pressure on and ensure every opportunity was rewarded.

The Harold Matthews boys faced a tough challenge and despite their effort, were ultimately outmatched on the day. While they worked hard and continued to compete, they were unable to gain momentum and struggled to contain their opposition.

The Lisa Fiaola girls also put in a wholehearted performance at St Mary’s Park Leagues in a physical encounter. Although they were unable to find their rhythm against the Panthers, they look to regroup and respond strongly in the weeks ahead.
