• JASON TAYLOR VOTED IN AS LIFE MEMBER

    North Sydney Bears

It was with great pleasure that Jason Taylor was unanimously voted in as the newest North Sydney Bears Life Member at the AGM on Tuesday 26th March 2024. JT played 147 games for the Bears between 1994 and 1999 as well as being selected on three occasions for the New South Wales and City Origin representative sides. In 1996 JT was awarded the Rothmans Medal for the Best and Fairest Player in the ARL competition. He scored more points in his six years as a player at North Sydney than any other in the Club’s history, amassing 1,274 points. In total he played 276 First Grade games between 1991 and 2001. He set some extraordinary records, including breaking Darl Halligan’s point-scoring record of 2,034 points in 2001 and retired having scored a record 2,107 First Grade points. JT demonstrated an extraordinary resilience as a player, playing 194 First Grade games in succession between 1992 and 2000.

After retirement JT has continued his significant contribution to rugby league and the North Sydney club. In late 2018 JT re-joined North Sydney as Head Coach and in his five years coached the NSW Cup side to a Minor Premiership and Grand Final appearance in 2023, as well as 3rd place in 2022 and 2019.  As the Club’s Director of Coaching, he played an important role in the women’s program that saw the club’s Harvey Norman Women’s Premiership side win two Minor Premierships in 2022 and 2023.

Please join us in congratulating Jason Taylor on this achievement. Always a Bear at heart!
