Lacey Shields Re-signs for 2021

What are you looking forward to about the new season?

There are a fair few things to be excited about for the 2021 season. I’m looking forward to getting back in around the Bears family, but most importantly having Lisa Fiaola take on the role as our Head Coach is exciting and a huge step in the right direction for the club. I’m also looking forward to being a part of the newly formed committee that is really going to drive a number of strategies to align with the Boards vision of building female rugby league pathways for the North District.

What did you learn or take away from the unusual year that was 2020 and will carry forward with you into the future?

The culture the team worked hard to build into the club was a two-year journey and we now have a culture that is built on passion, resilience, and determination and those values were instrumental in getting us to the Grand final so this is something that we will continue to maintain and nurture as we welcome the new players into the family.

What are you looking forward to outside of rugby league in 2021?

Our families sacrifice so much for us to get prepared for training and games while some are juggling full-time work and studying so it sounds cliché but family time is super important for me in the off-season and also time for the old body to rest and reset.
