    ROUND 7: NSW CUP
    ROUND 11: HNWP

WEEKEND RECAP

As our Harvey Norman Women’s team head into their final game of the regular season this Sunday, they retain their top of the table position after another strong win over St George Dragons last weekend. The team set out with a goal to keep the opposition scoreless and with a massive defensive effort they achieved that goal winning 48 – 0. Jess Sergis and Cassey Tohi-Hiku each nabbed a double, pathway player Grace-Lee Weekes notched up her second try in as many weeks, Kalosipani Hopoate stormed across with an impressive “don’t argue” and Toa Taufa, Chloe Jackson, Pier Pritchard and Leianne Tufuga all added four points to the bottom line. An impressive team effort from a powerhouse Bears side. This weekend they will be gunning for the Minor Premiership, make sure to get down to North Sydney Oval to cheer them on!

Our NSW Cup team had their winning streak halted by the Dragons in a sluggish game. The scores were tight at the half time mark with only four points between the teams after a nice try by Jesse Marschke, to which he converted. Unfortunately, the Dragons proved the better team in the second half, running in three tries to the Bears one, by Tui Katoa. The loss pushes the Bears down the ladder into 5th position based on for and against, but equal second on points. Still a long way to go in the season and this Sunday the boys get to play their first game at home having been on the road for six weeks. Some solid NRL experience drops back into the team this week with Billy Smith, Paul Momirovski and Jake Turpin all been named in this Sunday team list. Come on down, support the Bears and let’s push back up the ladder!

UPCOMING WEEKEND GAMES

This Sunday we return to North Sydney Oval with a big day of footy on – two proud foundation clubs, North Sydney Bears and South Sydney Rabbitohs, will come together to challenge for two mighty cups. Our Harvey Norman women’s Premiership team will take on the Bunnies for the second year in the Women in League Cup. Bears won the game in 2022 and we are aiming to retain the cup for the second year in a row. We will also be raising funds for women’s cancer research on the day, so come support the Bears and help us tackle cancer.

Introducing the inaugural Mario Fenech Cup, our Knock on Effect NSW Cup team will challenge the Rabbitohs kicking off at 2pm in the first game of the Cup. The Mario Fenech Cup will be a reciprocal competition in which the Cup will be awarded after the second game when we play the Bunnies at Coogee Oval on the 18th June. The great man himself will be in attendance at the game, along with Mark Graham and Billy Moore, to cheer on the Bears.
