TEAM LIST TUESDAY: 16TH APRIL 2022

Bears made it 4 wins for the season last Saturday as they defeated the Parramatta Eels at home at North Sydney Oval and saw them push up the ladder into second place. After days of endless rain, the sun appeared at midday and Bear Park looked stunning as we headed into the evening game – no better place to be on a Saturday afternoon, sun setting and the mighty Red & Black putting on a great show on field.

As soon as the team took to the field you can see a sense of determination, strength and fitness in their stride and that confidence saw them dominate the first half, however loosing focus in the last ten minutes allowed the Eels to get two swift tries bringing the half time score to 26 – 10 in favour of the Bears.

The second half was a closer affair as the two teams battled for control and fought to make their way down the field. Bears displayed some quality league with a number of coast to coast maneuvers, quick hands and limited mistakes. The final whistle blew with Bears taking the points ending 30 – 16.

Although Head Coach Jason Taylor says the team is still developing their craft and are yet to play their best footy, they are definitely building and displaying great on-field rapport that is captivating the spectators. The rain seemed to keep some fans away and the crowd was lower than we had hoped, however Bear Park still had that buzz we all seek. Bears Members & Fans, make sure you come out and support your Red & Black. Our boys are playing NRL worthy footy, we need the crowd to reflect on the on-field effort and show the NRL that we deserve to be back in the top flight.

Bula Vinaka!

This Saturday we have another big day of footy at North Sydney Oval with 4 games of on the main field. Gates open at 9.30am with Sydney Shield (Sydney Roosters v Hills Bulls) kicking off at 10am, followed by Jersey Flegg (Sydney Roosters v Hills Bulls) at 12pm. At 2pm we have a great game on where Bears feeder club Hills Bulls are playing the Kaiviti Silktails in the Ron Massey Cup. A number of the Bulls players are our contracted Bears players and will be fantastic to have these players take to the field at the home of the Bears. The Silktails are playing some great footy this year and the energy they bring to game day is electric, we look forward to welcoming them to Bear Park this weekend.

Kicking off at 4pm our KOE NSW Cup team take on the green machine Canberra Raiders and we are looking to continue our winning streak and kick the Jets off first position on the ladder. Rugby league legend Petero Civoniceva will be joining us to cheer on the Kaiviti Silktails and will be on field at half time for a Q&A and the Silktails may treat us with one of their beautiful songs. Come on down and say hi to Civo!

What better way to spend Easter Saturday than on the hill at North Sydney Oval, a Bear Park Brew craft beer in hand and enjoying a freshly made Cheese Burger from The Greens North Sydney pop up BBQ. Barney will be there handing out easter eggs to any little Bears there on the day plus of course face painting, colouring in and a heap of footy fun.
