Volunteer opportunities with the Bears

The Mighty North Sydney Bears have grown in 2018, with the addition of the Jersey Flegg (u/20’s) and Women’s Team to the club. This means there will be plenty of action at North Sydney Oval, and we are looking for volunteers who would love to be part of this great club and come along and help out on game day.

The Bears are currently seeking expressions of interest for the following positions:

  • Ground Announcer
  • Barney The Bear – team mascot
  • Ballboys
  • Timekeeper
  • Merchandise
  • General match day duties

No experience required, just a great attitude and prepared to have some fun. All volunteers will be issued with players only apparel to be worn on game day, including a polo shirt and jacket, and will receive complimentary invitations to the Bears end of season event.

Position details below:

Ground Announcer – If you consider yourself a sports broadcaster or an up and coming DJ, then this role is your chance to entertain. The stage is set at North Sydney Oval for top flight Rugby League, and with two new teams in the club there will be plenty of fans at the ground to cheer them on.

Barney the Bear – Here is one for those who have always wondered what it would be like to dress up as a team mascot and entertain the crowd. This role requires some athleticism and plenty of enthusiasm, get ready to be tackled by the kids!

Ballboys – The best seat in the house! Be a part of the footy team on the sideline as close to the action as you can be. We are looking for young boys and girls to run the line at the iconic North Sydney Oval, as well as many of the other major grounds around Sydney.

Timekeeper – Your home is now the Ken Irvine scoreboard, the clock is ticking down and you have your finger on the button of the siren ready to blow fulltime. This scoreboard has seen plenty of action, and is one of the best seats in the house.

Merchandise – Come and join our Life Member Ros on the merchandise stand and help out with the sale of Bears merchandise. A great way to meet other like-minded fans and a real hub on game day.

General match day duties – Assist with general match day duties including setting up and packing down banners and signage around the ground.
