North Sydney 1950s centre Bob Honeysett has passed away from prostate cancer on the night of the 4th of December 2017 in Wyee on the New South Wales Central Coast.

Bob began his first-grade career at South Sydney (1954 to 1957) where he represented for New South Wales in 1956.

Tragically he missed playing in South Sydney’s Premiership winning side of 1955 due to a broken hand.

Bob then arrived at Norths (1958 to 1959) to join Ken McCaffery in the centres.

He represented New South Wales in two more matches in 1959 captaining the side while being the first indigenous players to do so.

In 1960 he was coach of the Young Cherrypickers.

However, in 1962, he was playing for Wagga when he was called into the New South Wales Country side. He then found himself again called into the State side for a fourth time.

Bob was also selected to play for the New South Wales Schoolboys against Queensland and was an accomplished basketball player.

A funeral service will be held on Monday 11th December, 2017 at 12 noon at Palmdale Lawn Cemetry, 57 Palmdale Road Palmdale NSW 2258.

The North Sydney Bears sends it’s condolences to his family and friends.
