Bears announce trio of signings for the Club!

The North Sydney Bears are excited to announce we have secured the signing of SG Ball Captain Corey Fenning for three years. We are also happy to announce two more major signings for the Harvey Norman Women’s squad in Shanice Parker and Nicole Backhouse.
Bears Head of Recruitment Ben Gardiner had nothing but praise for Fenning, “Corey is an exceptional young talent with good leadership qualities. He is a great learner who’s building his game nicely. We would like to see him progress to Jersey Flegg and possibly play some games for them after the SG Ball season.”
Shanice Parker was our Harvey Norman Women’s player of the year last season as well as the leading try scorer. She is currently playing for the NSW Waratahs in the Super W league and will be a strong presence at 5/8 or fullback when she joins the Women’s squad for Round 1.”
Backhouse joined the Bears via our women’s feeder club, the Forestville Ferrets, which is great to see our women’s pathways providing quality talent to our squad.
When talking about Nicole’s on field strengths, Gardiner was also impressed how she balances her footy with working two jobs.
“Nicole is a hard working forward, she plays anywhere in the forwards. She is a player that enjoys contact, hits hard and runs hard. She is impressive as she balances footy with being both a landscaper and a travel agent.”
Fenning will lead the SG Ball side out against the Dragons this Saturday 16 March at Mascot Oval, whilst the women’s side play their Rd 1 match next Saturday 23 March at Shark Park.
