Club Update October 2022

Ahead of the 2023 season, we sat down with Bears CEO Gareth HolmesChairman Daniel Dickson and our Club Coach Jason Taylor to review the season just gone and update us on what is happening for 2023 and beyond. Click above to view an in-depth update.

As we head into our final year of our five-year contract with the Sydney Roosters, we have been notified that the Roosters will be fielding their own team in the 2023 Knock On Effect NSW Cup competition. We maintain our strong relationship with our partner club and the Roosters have confirmed they will continue to honour their contract with the Bears, in regard to NRL player movement between the two clubs. The Bears will use this period to bolster our own contracted playing roster and enhance our player development programs and pathways. Club Coach and Head KOE NSW Cup Coach, Jason Taylor, talks us through the impact this will have on the Red & Black in 2023 in the video.

Daniel Dickson updates our members and fans on our progress and current position with our NRL bid. We continue to strengthen our great club, remain present in all 18th team conversations within the media, key stakeholders and the NRL and ensure we present the most attractive option for the NRL’s expansion plan. We continue to call on our wide fan base to support the club, attend our home games and become a Bears member in 2023 and beyond. This NRL bid submission is a multi-year process and in part relies on the success of the 17th team to open up the doors for the 18th. As Jason Taylor says, you aren’t a real fan if you aren’t a member! Memberships open 1st November.
