WEEKEND RECAP
Well, we kicked off our home game series back at North Sydney Oval in a massive way last Sunday. Our mighty Harvey Norman Women’s Premiership team defeated the Rabbitohs with a whopping 70 – 0 scoreline, taking home the silverware for the second time in the Women in League Cup. and were also named Minor Premiers of 2023 HNWP competition – a massive achievement! On the attack, Jess Sergis got a hattrick, Grace-Lee Weekes, Kirra Dibb & Mia Wood all nabbed a double, while Sarah Togatuki, Nita Maynard & Jakiya Whitfeld all added four points each. Kirra had a huge kicking game securing 11 out of 12 conversions through the sticks and personally adding 30 points to the end result. However, the teams defence is what really needs to be congratulated, keeping the opposition scoreless for the whole game. This Sunday they head into their semifinal against Mounties, a previously proven strong opposition. Now is the time for the team to remained grounded, focused and push ahead as we are not done yet. Let’s go BEARS!
Our NSW Cup team followed suit with a solid win over the Bunnies and popping the first game of the reciprocal Mario Fenech Cup under their belt. The great man himself attended the game and had a wonderful time engaging with both Bears and Bunnies fans. The first half was tight between the two sides. Sitili Tupouniua opened the scoring, counted by Souths and followed by Paul Momirovski to take the boys to the sheds up 10 – 4 at half time. The second half saw the red & black really lift to the crowd and bring home the win. Junior Pauga walked away with a double and Ben Stevanovic, Regan Hughes and Jesse Marschke crossed the white line. Jesse went on to nail 6 out of 7 conversions rounding off a massive Bears kicking game across the day. Click the image below to watch the game highlights >>
