The North Sydney Bears are sad to announce the passing of Bears legend Doug McKinnon, player number 553. Son of Harry and brother of former Bears Don and Max, Doug was much loved by all and held a special place in the heart of the Blinkhorn family.
Doug played at the Bears between the years of 1956 – 1967, amassing 29 games in first grade out of a total 186 games for the club. He was pivotal in the formation of the Berowra JRLFC in 1967, acting as inaugural secretary. He then held various positions on the committee through to 1985, captain coached the first A grade team in 1969, and is a life member of the Berowra JRLFC.
The funeral is to be held on Monday 26th August at 11.30am at Palmdale Funerals Ourimbah. All invited back to Wyong Golf club after the funeral.
