Let The Trials Begin: 2024

The first test for our 2024 Knock-On Effect NSW Cup squad begins on Saturday 3rd February when we take on the South Sydney Rabbitohs at Hills Grammar. We have four trial games scheduled this season which is more than previous seasons and a great chance to prepare the entire squad for round 1. Every player in our 35-man squad will get decent game time in the trials, although not necessarily playing every game. “Every player can expect a good hit-out that’s more realistic in terms of fatigue and conditioning.” commented Head Coach Pat Weisner.

Marschke played an integral part in our Knock-On Effect NSW Cup leading the team all the way to the 2023 Grand Final. First coming to the Bears in 2021 and having played 44 games in the red & black, the North Sydney Bears are pleased for Jesse to have the opportunity to now progress on to a full time NRL contract with the St George Illawarra Dragons.

Bears Bid For The Pacific

As talks heat up regarding the NRL’s plans for an 18th team, the Bears remain front and centre in discussions among key stakeholders. Media speculation has gone wild again this week on the back of two things, firstly Prime Minister Albanese’s plan of large scale backing of a PNG NRL team as a political alignment to help counter China’s flexing muscles in the local region and secondly, the release of the Bears plans to bolster league in the Pacific, including PNG initially. Based on previous advice and direction from the NRL, the club has been working on a proposal that brings together the strength, talent and passion of the Pacific nations with the heritage, governance, pathways and iconic branding of the Bears.
