North Sydney Bears 2024 Junior Representative EOI

The North Sydney Bears are pleased to announce that we will be holding invitation-only trials for our 2024 Junior Representative Squad on Sunday 17th September. Applications close at 5pm Friday 8th September 2023.  All successful applicants/trialists will be notified via email and Facebook by COB Wednesday 13th September.

Kick For Cash & Kick For Community 2023

It's North vs East, club vs club, mate vs mate for our home game this Sunday 13th August, Foundation Round. Two proud foundation clubs go up against each other at historic North Sydney Oval. We first played the tri-colours at the home of the Bears in 1910 and 1800 spectators attended the game - surely, we can smash that figure this Sunday! Get your footies ready, Fans on the Field will be back in action this Sunday at half time of the main game. There are only three rounds remaining in the regular season and all are at home. Come on down to Bear Park, enjoy some great footy, fun complimentary kids' activities, settle on the hill with a Bear Park Brew and cheer on the mighty Bears this Sunday.

2023 Team Lists: Round 23 NSW Cup

For our last away game of the 2023 regular season, we are heading north on Saturday to take on the Newcastle Knights at their Centre of Excellence. We last met the Knights at North Sydney Oval for our Anzac Day Round, a very special occasion on this season's calendar. The Bears are remaining levelheaded in the full understanding of the task ahead over the next four rounds and focused on completing each game to the coaching teams game plan. We hope to see our Newcastle and Central Coast fans out in support of the boys on Saturday.

Don McKinnon Shield 2023

On Sunday 30th July 2023, we held our inaugural U10 and U11 Gala Day where junior league players from North Sydney, Manly and Parramatta Districts contested for the Don McKinnon Shield in each age group. It was a great day and awesome to see such talent from the young players. The games were played on mini fields under modified rules, with historic North Sydney Oval as the backdrop. The grand final games were played as a curtain raiser to the main game, Bears v Parramatta Eels. The legend himself, Don McKinnon, was on hand to cheer on the teams and present both the shields and medals to the players.

Greg Florimo Shield 2023

On Saturday 22nd July 2023, we held our inaugural U8 and U9 Gala Day where local junior league players contested for the Greg Florimo Shield in each age group. 2023 Team Lists: Round 22 NSW Cup

A big game needs a big crowd, get behind the Bears, show your support and come on down to North Sydney Oval this Sunday to cheer on the red & black as we take on the Parramatta Eels. The main game kicks off at 3pm and it's time to FILL THE HILL! The boys have been putting in some serious effort on the field, the standard of footy on display is truly spectacular and highly entertaining. As we have said before, and will say again, no better place to be on a Sunday afternoon.

2023 Team Lists: Round 21 NSW Cup

Returning to Bear Park this Saturday for our only home game under lights for the 2023 season, we take on the St George Illawarra Dragons kicking off at 5pm. The last time we met in April, the Dragons got the jump on us and we are keen to take those points back in this scrimmage. No better place to be on a Saturday night than at beautiful North Sydney Oval, under lights, mulled wine or a hot spiced ginger beer in hand and first class footy on field. We have heaps of fun and complimentary activities on for our Christmas in July round including Christmas craft and face paintings, bubbles and Bears temporary tattoos, light up and inflatable decorations plus a visit from the big man himself, Santa!

2023 Team Lists: Round 20 NSW Cup

This Saturday we head into a massive top of the table clash against the Bulldogs at their home ground, Belmore Oval. With our win over the Sea Eagles on the weekend, we have pushed back up into second place and are just one point behind the comp leaders. Bulldogs are always a strong force when they play at Belmore and with the added emotion of Josh Reynolds retirement and last game in the blue and white against the Bears, the stage is set for an epic battle. For the second time this season we go up against the Sea Eagles, this time on their home soil. Kicking off at 3pm at HE Laybutt Field in Blacktown next Sunday. Out of the last ten clashes it's an even split on wins, Bears are gunning to tip that scale in the red & black favour this weekend. Come on you Bears! This Sunday (2nd July) we return to North Sydney Oval for the final of the Jason Taylor Cup against the Magpies. This is our Retro Round! Time to pull out the old jerseys, blast some Tina Turner and enjoy the beauty of Bear Park. The Ken Irvine Scoreboard will be back in action, our live band returns and the Bears beers will be flowing.

State of Origin Luncheon Review

An event not to forget! Our annual Red & Black Foundation State of Origin luncheon was held last Friday at Norths Cammeray. Super coach Wayne Bennett captivated the audience with stories of Origin and coming up against the Bears at North Sydney Oval. We sat back and listened to four mates, Billy Moore, David Fairleigh, Mark Graham and Gary Larson regale stories and dig into each other, while Greg Florimo heckled from the floor. Delicious food was enjoyed, many a Bears beer was consumed and funds were raised to support the club's Red & Black Foundation.

Bears Legends League Tag Gala

We kicked off the Bears Legends Day with our first ever Bears Legends League Tag Gala. Five teams sweated it out on the field in a great show of sportsmanship and athleticism, culminating in a grand final between the Bears and a local touch footy team called the Jets. It was a close battle in the grand final with the teams going try for try but the Bears were victorious and ex-player and North Sydney Bears Life Member Curtis Johnston eagerly accepted the Cup. Well done to all who competed!

2023 Team Lists: Round 15 NSW Cup

Where better to spend the Kings Long Weekend than at Bear Park! We are back at our home ground this Sunday for the final of the Frank Hyde Shield against the Newtown Jets. In a nail-biter of a game at Henson Park, Bears took out game one of the Shield with a field goal in the last minutes and this game is set to be nothing less than an epic clash again.

HM & SG Ball Cup 2023 Presentation Event

It was an honour to host our 2023 Harold Matthews and SG Ball Cup teams at North Sydney Oval on Saturday 3rd June. Following their season award presentation in the Bears Legends Lounge, the team were welcomed on field to be acknowledged for their massive efforts during the 2023 season. Thank you to Harold Matthews Cup Head Coach Paul Mamo and SG Ball Cup Head Coach Tony Clarke and his team for a fantastic season and we look forward to watching our junior representative program continue to go from strength to strength next year.

We return to Bear Park this SATURDAY for our first clash with the Sea Eagles for the 2023 season. It's a rivalry steeped in tradition and boy do us Bears love to beat Manly! Pull out your red & black kit, grab a flag from the merch tent on game day, fill the hill and cheer on the Bears. As our captain Zach Dockar-Clay said "the cheers of the crowd bring us home at Bear Park".

Tarsha Gale Cup 2023 Presentation Event

It was an honour to host our 2023 Tarsha Gale Cup team on field prior to the KOE NSW Cup game last Sunday at North Sydney Oval. Afterwards, the team were welcomed into the Bears Legends Lounge for their season awards event. Thank you to Head Coach Sa Patiole and his team for a fantastic season and we look forward to watching out female junior representative program continue to flourish next year.

2023 Team Lists: Round 12 NSW Cup

The red & black face another big game this Sunday in a top of the table clash when we take on the Canterbury Bulldogs at Bear Park. As we head into round 12, the Bears are sitting on top of the table, but we all know that comps aren't won at this point and the hard work to retain this position now begins. The team have been putting on some incredibly solid performances on field and remaining composed even when faced with challenges. After having a week off for the BYE, we can't wait to see them play again this Sunday at home. Get on down to cheer on the boys!
